Do you need to buy the yogurt starter packs every time you want to make yogurt? How many yogurts does a starter pack make?

Not really. Instead of buying the starter, just buy a regular yogurt at any supermarket and use it; you can then use the contents of one of your own-made jars to make another batch. I even did it with very reasonable results a third time (using one jar of the second batch to make the third). Actually I never ever bought a starter pack and always used regular yogurt with splendid results. The appliance is great, the yougurt tastes great.
